5 Favorites: September 2017

Life startsall over againwhen it getscrisp in the fall.png

Every month I share some of my favorite things from the last month. Here are some things I’ve been loving throughout the month of September!

1) Apple Cider Mimosas

Most of September was hot and sunny, but that didn’t stop me from feeling autumnal vibes! Apple cider mimosas were an EASY and delicious step toward fall festivities.

Here’s the recipe we used:

  • 8 oz. Prosecco
  • 2 oz. Apple Cider
  • Garnish with fresh apple slices

It doesn’t get much easier! Bubbly, sweet yumminess!

2) Keurig K475 Brewer

It’s no secret that I’m a little bit of a coffee addict! I almost always drink decaf, but there is just something SO comforting about having a warm beverage to sip on!

I’ve been using my Keurig daily for over five years (best wedding gift ever!) and was starting to be able to tell. It was still working fine, but had slowed down quite a bit over the years. Since it was an older model, it’s capabilities were limited compared to the newer models.

Keurig had a 25% off everything sale in mid-September and I decided to take advantage! I chose the K475 and LOVE it!

First, the color is beautiful! It completely brightened up what used to be a dark corner of my kitchen.

Second, it’s so fast! I kid you not—I put the K Cup in the machine and my coffee is ready less than a minute later!

Last but not least, it brews a ton of different sizes, including a full carafe for when you need to make coffee for more than one person. That works perfectly for me because no one else in my house drinks coffee, but I like to be able to make a full pot when we have guests in town.

3) Foam Building Blocks

Nolan got these as a gift for Christmas (thanks, mamaw!) and is officially in love with them. Scratch that—he’s in love with me and Justin building “tall towers” with them so he can knock them over!

The blocks we use are very similar to these.

Nolan’s finally starting to try to build some towers of his own, but these blocks have created quite a bit of quality, TV-free time for us as a family. And I’ll admit that Justin and I have become embarrassingly competitive with our tower building!

4) White Barn Bourbon Sea Salt Caramel 3-Wick Candle

O.M.G. Ten minutes of this candle burning and my entire downstairs smells like heaven.

I mentioned in my last post that I love lighting autumnal candles to get my house smelling festive, and this one is one of the best I’ve ever smelled. Like the name says, it’s smells of barrel-aged bourbon, soft caramel and course sea salt. It’s literally the PERFECT combination of sweet and earthy.

The container is super cute too. The wood print and hammered metal lid give it a rustic feel, while the marble print and simple font keep it looking modern.

My all-time favorite candle has been Bath & Body Works’ Marshmellow Fireside for years. Buttt the White Barn Bourbon Sea Salt Caramel (found at B&BW) scent just may have taken the lead. That’s TBD — it’s a close call. Either way, I’m sure I’m going to go through multiple of these this fall season!

5) HBO’s Silicon Valley

We watched the first couple seasons of this show a couple years ago and didn’t realize until recently that HBO continued to release new seasons. In September we picked it back up and I’m so glad we did!

If you haven’t seen Silicon Valley, it’s basically about a five (hilariously awkward) guys who create a start-up company in Silicon Valley. It’s super light and funny, which makes it a great pre-bedtime show—if you’re like me and can’t watch anything even remotely action-oriented without having nightmares.

The next time you’re in a TV rut, this show is definitely work checking out!

  1. Great post!! I love September! Besides the fact that it’s my birthday month but fall starts, coffee fills the house, and we can’t forget candles!! I loveeee them!

  2. I am so in love with candles! Where can I purchase this candle? I would love it! Funny that you mention the comfort in a warm cup of liquid something. I have been drinking hot tea all afternoon! I love this time of year, most of all seasons!

  3. My sister has a Keurig and I live for it whenever I visit. I always note to get one, but then think I’m not a coffee enough person to make sense of it. I end up just buying makeup instead. Ugh.
