Every month I’ll share some of my favorite things from the last month. Here are some things I’ve been loving throughout the month of July!
1) Sleep Mask
OMG you guys – this is a game changer! I have always had issues sleeping with any kind of light. If the sun is up, then so am I. This is especially annoying in the summer when the sun is up before 6 AM. I have the same issue when the TV is on when we go to sleep – which Justin loves to do. Using a sleep mask has completely helped!
Mine is similar to this one. I got it from TJMaxx for like $5. I like the adjustable strap in the back and the fact that it’s shaped to not actually touch my eyelids.
2) IKEA Kalas Kid Dishes
Nolan’s finally at an age where he doesn’t need an entire placemat for every meal. He’s starting to use dishes, but I had to make sure they were plastic and durable.
We ended up ordering this IKEA set from Amazon and it’s been perfect. It’s dishwasher safe, comes with everything (plates, bowls, cups, utensils), and totally affordable. Plus the dishes come in super cute colors and Nolan enjoys getting to pick the one he wants to use!
3) Brie Cheese
Brie is not new to me, but for some reason we’ve been eating a lot of it at our house this month! Our favorite is from a local grocery store, but finding a spreadable or semi-spreadable option is the key.
We like to pair our brie with salami, fresh baked bread, and usually a glass of Pinot Grigio for good measure. The combination makes for a great appetizer or snack – or even a full meal if you’re willing to consume that many carbs. We are! 🙂
4) H&M Aviators
What’s more fitting for July than a fun pair of sunglasses?! I do have a couple pairs of designer sunglasses, but for day-to-day wear I usually stick to cheapy ones I don’t have to worry about damaging.
My favorite cheap options are the aviators from H&M! They come in a lot of colors and have mirrored and non-mirrored options. I have two different pairs of these. Mine have been dropped, stepped on and stuffed into bags countless times, and somehow they still look brand new. AND they are only $8, so if you DO break or misplace them then it’s nothing to lose sleep over.
5) “Non-Styled” Hair
Like many women, my natural hair is somewhere between straight and wavy, so I typically either style it or wear it up. BUT in the summertime there is something I just LOVE about tousled, beachy hair. Not only does it look sexy and fitting for the sunny weather, but it’s super easy!
Here’s how I achieve this look:
- Wet hair completely
- Towel dry, brush it out, and towel dry again
- Blow dry roots — I like to do this upside down to give my roots some volume
- Generously spray in Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Spray
- Tousle and scrunch as needed
