Welcome to She Lists Five — a lifestyle blog written for busy women (although men are welcome too, of course 🙂 ). I’m hoping the tips and stories I share here will provide something for others — whether humor, advice, or the simple knowledge that someone else feels the same way you do!

Here are 5 reasons I’m starting She Lists Five:
1) I’ve got things to say.
Why does anyone start a blog? I guess I don’t really know the answer. But for me, it’s because I’ve got a lot on my mind. Literally, I wake up in the morning and my brain immediately starts ticking through the details of our chaotic life.
What’s our schedule today? What am I going to make for dinner? I need to remember to turn in Nolan’s permission slip. Do I have any meetings at work? Crap, I forgot to put the laundry in the dryer last night.
I think a lot of women put pressure on themselves to be perfect at everything — being fit, staying organized, entertaining friends, etc… The fact of the matter is that we’re not. And I’m here to tell you THAT’S OKAY. I want this blog to be for women like me, who are not perfect, and who struggle with the balance of being a confident, independent woman while also being a mom, or a wife, or a busy professional.
I always have a lot on my mind, and now She Lists Five is going to be where I put those thoughts, ideas, and tips.
2) My stress levels are through the roof.
You may have already picked up on this, but I tend to carry a lot of stress. A lot of things I stress about are completely out of my control. And while some (maybe most?) people take an uncontrollable situation and simply let life ride itself out, I will take that same situation and try to calculate every possible outcome and come up with a solution for all of them. Totally unnecessary and pointless, I know. But that’s who I am and I’m working on it — which brings me to my main point.
Not only do I think a lot of women can relate to the things I think about, but I also need an outlet for my stress. I think this blog is the perfect place to bare my heart, soul and craziness. And hopefully it’ll help a few of you along the way!
3) Listing is my jam!
I start almost every day with a To Do list and get such an abnormal amount of satisfaction out of crossing something off. I’m the girl that adds the things I’ve already done that day to my To Do list just so I can feel good about crossing them off (ahem — that’s normal right??). Sometimes I’m teased for listing so much, but it helps me keep my sanity.
I also love reading lists! My favorite articles always start with something like 20 Things That, 10 People Who, 5 Places That, etc. That’s why She Lists Five is solely going to be made up of articles of five things. Those five things will vary in topic each week — from family life to health & fitness to beauty & fashion — but every topic will be written with everyday, busy women in mind. Because let’s be honest, what woman isn’t busy these days?
4) I genuinely love to write.
I’ve had a passion for writing ever since I can remember. When I was a kid I thought I would be a writer or journalist. I even put an AP Stylebook on my Christmas list a couple times (English majors know what I’m talking about!), but apparently no one thought that would be a fun gift to give.
No, today I’m not a professional writer, but I still love creating content for others to enjoy. And what better subject than my everyday life thoughts and ideas that I KNOW so many other women have too?
5) I have THE BEST inspiration.
I have to get mushy for a second. My husband and son, Justin and Nolan, are the greatest motivation to maintain the best “me” that I can. Seriously though, how can I resist these faces?!
These boys make me want to be the best mom and the best wife. Together we experience highs, lows, chaos, excitement — all with nothing but love for each other. They are the reason for my thoughts, ideas, and stories — good, bad and ugly!
